UPDATE! |
Jamie´s bathing suits and sports bras were found in a black plastic bag on the beach...along with the swiss guys passport!! So thats good at least!
Instead of hanging out in Tamarindo, waiting for Jamies credit cards to come via mail we decided to tag along with these two coast gaurd guys from San Fran and Alaska who are super chill and nice and rented a car so we are chipping in a cruising along. Down the road James and I will eventaully figure out how to get her new bank cards ut until then why sit and wait around....just gotta keep cruising along with life and enjoying the moment. We convinced them (Mike and SUmmers) to cruise down to Mal Pias on the southern pacific point of Costa Rica. Mike and ummers have to come back up this way to leave back to the states on Friday so Jamie and I will just venture off to other locations from Mal Pias. Today is already looking brighter! Tamarindo was fun but a little too much commercialized stuff for our laid back taste!
One last thing...the police finally showed up to the hostel about 10 minutes ago, returned the swiss guys credit card that someone found on the beach but only came by to return it because they wanted to know if the remote control to their tv in the police station was found in the black bag that was returned to Jamie. Apparently it got stolen and they really wanted it back! GEEEEAAAT....so cops think the remote control to a tv is just as important as a stolen passport, camera, ipod and money...ha! Gotta love it! |

BIG! Intense! I am happy you and your traveling GF are safe and you are totally right it could have been a bit worse! Tamarindo is crazy for theft and it happens in broad daylight even. I just hope your friend ends up getting everything figured out...its hard being in a different country. How is Mal Pias?! I thought it was amazing! It isn't too commercialized such as Tama. I couldn't agree with you more...Tamarindo is being over-ruled by tourists and the locals there are way to interested in the money than preserving the beauty spot they have...or had. I am sorry your time there wasn't to great...but I am sure you will find many other great places in the providence of Guanacaste. It is one of the most beautiful out of the seven in COsta RIca. If you have the means travel to Limon! But hold on to your things tight...theft is out of control through out the country. As far as getting your friends mom to send her cards I would think to send them to a bank or post office. When I lost my visa card my mom sent me another to the Bank of San Jose in Tamarindo. But I am sure there are many branches around. I am not to familiar with post offices. Keep rolling with the waves big! You are growing so much and experiancing so much! Its incredible! LOVE YOU....claro, Pura Vida!

captain, i was considering taking raul and hauling our butts over there to find and regulate them bandits (you know...find them and make them pick up all the trash in costa rica and make them sit in time out for equivalent amount of their age, cause thats what we're trained to do and thats what we're good at). but you know the rule about having to request for days off ONE WEEK in advance. so yeah. sorry captain.
but glad you're having a blast! cheers and grand travels lucy!

I am leaving my job and taking a jump towards unpredictable, yet exciting, new experiences! I am so excited to start this new journey and know only great things will come from it!!
